About Me…

Hello! My name is Sarah Raymond, and I am a junior at Tamarac High School in Troy, NY.

I have been a cross country and track runner for over six years. I have had many experiences along my athletic journey and have learned a lot. For me, running was an outlet to relieve stress and improve my mental and physical state, but being on sports teams came with its own set of challenges. Often, my mental health suffered from the competition and anxiety of being a runner. I can recall many practices and races where I felt overwhelmed with the pressure of racing and didn’t know what to do. Over the past year, I have become passionate about mental health because of my personal struggles with it.

I decided to create a website called The Run Happy Project. This website is all about mental health for high school runners. The website will give athletes access to articles about mental health and to professionals that deal with mental health issues like anxiety, body image, and stress. My goal is to continue to discover more helpful and inspiring resources to share with others. My hope is to make other runners more aware of how mental health issues can impact their performance and to support them by providing resources. Happy running!
